Chapter One — The War
Once a thousand years ago there was war between the north and the south, it seems that everybody wanted the war to continue and that the people on the opposite side would die. But there was an 11-year-old girl named Lily. She wanted it to stop — she did not care if her side won or if the other side won; she just wanted it done. But her voice wasn’t loud enough, even if she screamed, “Stop it! There is no use doing this if it will never stop. I want my house back, my toys, my life. I might die here, so STOP! Please, I beg you!”
Through all the effort she put into the speech she did every day, nothing changed. There was one thing Lily was taking care of: a ring. For her it seemed like a normal everyday ring, but it held insane powers. Though it was big for her, so she never wore it. One day she tried wearing it and then a tiny bird came out looking half-dead. Lily said, sobbing, “Why, why do all the bad things happen to me?” Just then a bright light came out of the ring and a voice echoed, “What do you want to happen, Lily? Now tell me.”
Lily was terrified but felt it was safe to speak. She said in a low voice, “I want the war to finish.” The voice said, “I see. You want the war to end. Okay, I will do it for you.” Then everybody stopped fighting. Lily saw an old man making a robot, and a sign said, “My name is James.” Suddenly she felt as if she were inside the scene. She saw James muttering, “Okay, that should go there and that under.” The robot came alive. Lily asked, “Excuse me, but who are you?” James didn’t respond, as if he hadn’t heard her.
Chapter Two — The Man
Lily didn’t know what to do; she couldn’t speak to James, and she didn’t know how to help him because she didn’t know how robots worked. Lily looked around the room, then saw a chair. She thought nothing would happen if she sat down, so she did — and she was right, nothing happened. Then she thought, “What if I try talking now?” and she did. This time, James responded: “Of course you are different, Lily. Different.”
Lily didn’t understand; it looked as if they were in the middle of a conversation and like he knew her perfectly. Then she heard James say, “Well, your ring has insane powers, and so it has been broken into seven parts — no more and no less.” Lily was a little sad, as the ring was the only thing she cared for and it had been broken into pieces. She was heartbroken, but then she asked, “But why did they break it into seven parts?”
James replied, “As I told you, the ring holds huge powers, but to prevent people from fighting, they broke it into seven equal parts.”
Chapter Three — Getting To Know Each Other
Lily wanted to ask trillions of questions because of that answer, but she chose one: Why seven parts, not six or five? When she asked, James said, “They cut the ring into seven parts because there are seven worlds. The worlds are: Land of the People (Earth), Land of the Giants (Borborygmus), Land of the Tiny People (Terribilitas), Land of the Wizards (Wisdomium), Land of the Flying People (Fluctuario), Land of the Robots (Rationalitas), and Land of the Jumping People (Jocundus).”
Lily was shocked that Earth fought to get her ring. “But I always thought the war was between the South vs the North?” she asked. James explained, “The war was between South and North because you had the ring. If the South won, they would keep it. If the North won, they would have it — and peace would follow.”
Lily was shocked to find out they were fighting just for her ring. She checked her hand — it wasn’t there. Suddenly, the same light appeared again, this time red. She thought it would bring her to war again. She closed her eyes, hoping it wouldn’t, but fainted in the light.
Chapter Four — A Robot Called Morthar
When she woke up, she was looking at a robot. He looked evil and greedy, his eyes were filled with red, his eyes looked evil. He was sitting in a throne made out of gold and diamonds, next to him were two guards. They were similar to the robot in the throne except that they were red and that they were holding long spears.
Lily didn’t know what to do, she thought that she could whisper to the guards where she was. She didn’t know what else to do, so she just did that “Excuse me but, where am I?” She had no response, not even another whisper or someone moving their head to signal that she shouldn’t talk. Nothing.
Then she remembered the first time that she went to meet James that at the start he couldn’t hear her until she sat down, so she looked at a chair or something to roll on. She looked behind her and she saw her parents. She was surprised; she had always thought that they were dead.
As she didn’t know what to do, she thought about hugging them, she didn’t want to run just in case the guards spotted her, so she walked there to them, but they didn’t see her. She was going to go back to where she was before, but she saw something. It had orange hair curved up like how you would see in a cupcake. His eyes were light blue and his body was small. He had an orange jacket, that orange was a little bit lighter than the color of his hair.
Lily didn’t know what to do, she thought of asking him where she was too, to see if he would respond, and so she did: “Um excuse me but, who are you?”
“Oh, I am Mr. Smack. Number one spy and agent. I am here to save your parents.” Lily was a little bit happy that at least someone was trying to save her parents so, as her mother had always told her to say, she said “Than-”
“Today, I will get the ring. Forever I will and forever I shall!” Lily saw that Morthar had spoken, his voice sounded cruel and evil. It was like she could tell who Morthar was — cruel and evil.
Mr. Smack whispered to Lily “That is Morthar, king of Rationalitas and of course you must know that he is trying to get the ring, or I must say your ring.”
“But how do you know that it is my ring and not somebody else’s?” she asked hoping not to get the answer that he had been spying on her all of the time.
“I have been spying on your parents and you ever since they were born because your mother used to have that ring, and before your mom had it your grandma had it and so on.”
Lily wanted to know more stuff about what they were talking about, but she knew that the light was going to come again. She waited a little, just looking around but no light came so she tried talking to Morthar, asking “Why did you take my parents, Morthar, why would you leave a girl you don’t even know without her parents at just the age of 11? Please tell me why!” Morthar looked around to see who was talking and stared at her with his gleaming red eyes.
Chapter Four — A Robot Called Morthar
Lily saw that Morthar had heard her and now was looking at her, she felt as though she was going to die just then Morthar said, “I will not hurt you because you have the ring but something I will do is I will put you in prison. Guards, take her to prison and make sure she is far away from her parents.” “Yes, my lord, we will” said the guards. Lily was so scared, she never
went to prison in her life and plus, Morthar was there not the police so Morthar could do anything and might even not feed her or let her sleep. She had no idea what was going to happen to
her. Suddenly, she saw three guards taking her to a cage — she could fit in it but surely not live in it. Lily’s heart was beating as fast as a machine; she felt as though she was going to live there...
Lily went into the prison cell and was left alone with only three guards near the cell making sure she would not escape; she wanted to get out, she just didn’t know how. As she looked around
what she thought would be her new home, she sat down in the right corner of the room and cried and thought, “Why, why do all the bad things happen to me, can’t I just live normally with my parents, normal life why can’t I just why?” Then she looked at the ring, touched it, and soon after she saw Mr. Smack zoom in and add sleeping potions to the guards’ water. He
grabbed the key to Lily’s cell, entered, and told Lily in a hurried voice, “Follow me! Come on, we don’t have much time until Morthar comes to check your cell, come on go!!!” Lily ran with
him all the way until there was a big iron door; Mr. Smack grabbed the keys from one of his pockets and opened it. Lily ran to see the world she was in. She saw a sign written in a strange
language. Mr. Smack looked at Lily and then said in a sad voice, “I am sorry Lily that I couldn’t save your parents, it’s just that they weren’t in a cell — they were attached to Morthar to make sure they wouldn’t escape, so it was impossible for me to get them.”
Lily was feeling a mixture of anger and sadness; she felt done with Morthar — he had done too many things and she wanted to stop him, but she knew she couldn’t. “Oh, and Lily, remember this
: when you go to the world Terribilitas, remember to go back here in this exact spot.” (He looks at his watch.) “Sorry, but I have to go, byeee.” “No, don’t go, Mr. Smack, I need you!!!”
But he had already vanished into thin air, leaving Lily alone.
